When Euphemia Spears, the spouse of Adam Lyall Robson passed away she set up a cash distribution account 1964 called "The John George Robson trust fund" leaving a quarter share to each Ian Lyall, Allan Lyall, Marjorie Isabel and Margaret (116 pounds, 6 shillings and 1 pence each) which would be given to them on the death of their father John George Robson on 19th October 1964. The trust fund contained 3½% War Stock and guaranteed 3% Stock This is likely related to the will of Matthew Jackson Lyall given the M. J Lyall reference was given on many of the letter exchanges and M. J Lyall's name was mentioned on the 3% stock dated 1st July 1949.
Ian Lyall Robson received several letters from H. T. Roberts. His first letter was dated 30th June 1964, and enquired with regards to the estate of Matthew Jackson Lyall requesting an independent person willing to make a declaration regarding the dates of John George Robson's marriages and dates of birth of his children and any marriages of those children. Further letters were received dated 9, 12,16, 25 September 1964, regarding the inheritance - her estate was dealt with Messrs. Collin Woods and Vaughan Jones. The Trust fund was valued at 1000 pounds, but a legacy duty of 100 was deducted and then the remaining balance invested in 3½% War Stock at 104 pounds, producing a holding of 859 pounds, 14s. and 0.d. This war stock was sold for 486 pounds, 14 shillings and 1pence (just under £10,000 in 2019 money).
Realising the will, undertaken by Lloyds Bank, was a long drawn out affair and the bill was 84 guineas.
